Submission proposals for our next theme, Global Health security, are open until Sunday 31 August. This theme explores how advancements in animal health directly contribute to global health security, emphasising the prevention and detection of, and response to, biological threats. Emerging zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance, and dual-use research risks underscore the urgent need for a proactive, interdisciplinary approach. Strengthening animal health systems is a critical first line of defense against pandemics and bioterrorism. By integrating perspectives from animal, public and environmental health sectors, this article series will highlight innovative strategies in biosecurity, laboratory biosafety, and cutting-edge tech solutions to reduce risks from animal diseases, lab accidents and deliberate biological threats. The collection will offer evidence-based insights to shape policy and foster partnerships across sectors, in line with the One Health approach.
